Artists’ Paintpots

Artists’ Paintpots is one place we did not get to visit last year.  It is in the Gibbon Geyser Basin.  There is a lot of iron oxide minerals in this area which makes the area very colorful.  There are deep reds and oranges as well as the blue-greys of the clay minerals in the area.  While not large like the Norris Geyser Basin, this place is incredibly beautiful. Spring is a wonderful time to visit because the wildflowers are in full bloom.  We were there in the pouring rain. The rain did not diminish the beauty at all.
