Herbert Hoover Presidential Library

We went to Iowa this past summer to go to Winnebago to get some work on our RV. While there we decided to take in some of the sites. Herbert Hoover was the 31st president. He was born in West Branch, Iowa. He was the only president born in Iowa. The national park service takes care of his boyhood home and the Quaker Church. The grounds are quite extensive. You can walk to the hill where he and his wife are buried and than along a lane to get to the library. The NPS visit is free to the public but the library has a nominal cost.

I like visiting presidential libraries because I enjoy reading (or hearing speeches) and life after being the president. By most historical accounts Hoover is not deemed a particularly good president. Hoover was involved with many humanitarian efforts after WWII to keep child fed and rebuild Europe. It is difficult to measure a man by what he does in the few years as President.
